“Hover” presents new choir project

“Hover” State Chamber Choir continues coming up with experimental projects in various genres. This time the choir has presented non-conventional arrangements of Aparan folk songs in collaboration with Vahagn Hayrapetyan Jazz Trio. It is planned to present this special project also in regions of Armenia, in particular, in borderland communities and abroad.

Founded a quarter century ago, the choir had implemented projects for 18 years with their own resources till 2009, when it gained state status. A few years later, in 2013, Armenia’s leading telecommunications operator VivaCell-MTS undertook the general partnership of the choir promoting its creative activities. Owing to its professional musician-performers, “Hover” has reached unprecedented results for choir genre: 40-50 concerts and performances annually in prestigious concert halls around the world, a wide list of partners, new projects dedicated to the Armenian choir music, contemporary projects and more.

We are glad to state that we have contributed to the development and improvement of choral art with our targeted partnership. “Hover” completes the mission of representing Armenia in the authoritative concert halls of the world and the responsibility of serving to our national culture,” said VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian.

Over the past four years “Hover” has appeared with concerts in Belgium, France, Russia, Germany, Lebanon, Poland, China, US, Italy, Switzerland and other countries. By the way, “Hover’s world premiere of a choral setting of “Psalm 3” by Krzysztof Penderecki composed in remembrance of the Armenian Genocide, gained great appreciation by the “New York Times” daily.

The repertoire of the choir has always been versatile and diverse. “Hover” is the first performer of a number of choir works by Armenian composers. The choir has performed in prestigious concert halls such as the “Strathmore” (US), “Cité de la Musique” (France), Warsaw Royal Concert Hall (Poland), Carnegie Hall (US) and other. The artistic achievements of “Hover” have been highlighted by the Armenian and West European media.
