Origin of Meditrina

The name Meditrina originated from Latin word medica, which means health and longevity.

 In Roman mythology Meditrina is the goddess/personification of health and longevity and the daughter of Aesculapius and Epione. Her name is also connected with the Latin verb mederi - to heal, and this seems to accord well with the rites observed at the festival of the goddess – Meditrinalia. The Goddess of healing magic specializes in the use of wines, herbs and empowered charms to restore our health when summer colds or weariness set in. 

Her symbols are healing charms and herbal preparations. To make yourself a Meditrina charm that keeps health with you, place a pinch of caraway, marjoram, nutmeg and thyme in a green cloth and tie it up. Put this in sunlight (considered healthful) for several hours then bless it saying, “Meditrina, see my need. I am open to receive. Throughout the day good health impart in my body, mind and heart.”

The story

Our story began in the highlands of Armenia, in the high mountains covered with clouds, in the wild green forests with small water springs, where the air is fresh, fruits are ripe and sweet, and the time seems to stop to let you breathe in the magic.

Once that magic was everywhere, it connected people and nature, and all lived in harmony for many years. However, time went by and the world changed, people and nature grew apart.

It was once believed that magic left our world, but we know it is still out there, we can feel it in the wild forests, in the mountains, in the gardens, that are cherished and kept with love, in the unique rich taste of the crops that they give.

The unique recipes and exciting combinations of our confitures made it possible to keep the Magic of their ingredients alive and to bring it to you.

Our secret is quite simple: we use only 100% natural ingredients, little sugar, wild pomegranates, fruits, berries and herbs for richer taste and the magical seeds of Ararat basil.

Armenian Highland is situated in the Alp-Himalayan mountainous system and has seven climate zones out of nine existing in the world. Such a diversity of climate zones from Subtropics (375m above sea level) to Alpine Meadows (4090m) is sited on a territory of only 29.8 thousand sq. km, which means that one can travel from hot summer to ice-cold mountains in 5-6 hours.

That is why Armenia is a wonderland and all the crops we harvest in the ecologically clean and picturesque Armenian highlands are rich with Magic of Nature!
