In Greek and Roman mythology there is the tale of Chloris, goddess of flowers and springtime (Roman: Flora) who saw the lifeless body of a woodland nymph and decided to breathe life anew, transforming the nymph’s body into a rose flower. Roses have always been perceived as manifestation of beauty, purity and have many times been connected to different miracles. A miracle of the roses is a miracle in which roses manifest an activity of God or of a saint.

According to the Armenian medieval manuscripts rose governs the emotions and their effects on the heart. The medicinal properties of the roses are not lost on modern researchers and they are investigating the effect of the rose in balancing hormones and creating overall well-being.
