Dr. Karapet G. Momjyan – traumatologist-orthopedist, spinal surgeon, Head of Spinal surgery service (Department of Spine Pathology and Vertebral Surgery) of Erebouni Medical Center.

Dr. Momjyan significantly contributed in the development of spinal surgery in Armenia. He uses modern technologies and carries out the treatment of various spine diseases and injuries, such as:

  • spine deformation (scoliosis, osteochondrosis)
  • degenerative diseases of spine (low back pain, herniated discs, stenosis of spinal channel, instability of the vertebrae)
  • spondylolysis or spondylolisthesis of the lumbar part of the vertebrae
  • correction of the spinal curvature in ankylosing spondylitis
  • malignant and benign tumors of the spine
  • fractures and dislocations of the vertebrae
  • correction of post-traumatic and postoperative spinal deformities

In most cases patients are discharged from the hospital within 2-7 days.

Dr. Karapet Momjyan graduated from Yerevan State Medical University in 1980 and Scientific Institute of Pediatric Orthopedics named after Turner (St. Petersburg, Russia) in 1986. He started medical practice in 1980 as Deputy Director of Mother’s and Child’s Service at Central Regional Hospital of Martuni town of Armenia.

From 1986 to 1993 Dr. Momjyan worked as orthopedic surgeon in the Spinal surgery department of the Armenian Republic’s Children’s Orthopedic Hospital, based in Masis town of Armenia. In the years of1993-1997 Dr. Karapet Momjyan worked as senior scientific researcher in the Pediatric Orthopedic Department of the Scientific Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics, Yerevan, Armenia. In 1997-2011 Dr. Momjyan was the Head of Pediatric Trauma & Orthopedics department of "Surb Astvatsamair" Medical Center, Yerevan, Armenia.
